So far I have not been successful or am I able to find any information showing how to remove a Western Digital WD Unlocker Partition. After installing the WD My Book software to manage the external drive I noticed there was an additional drive letter.Disk Management shows a WD Unlocker UDF Partition. The partition was created during the software installation process, but now I am unable to delete the partition. The partition is identifying itself as a DVD CD-Rom drive. The only way I was able to prevent the additional drive letter from appearing in File Explorer was to use Disk Management to remove the drive letter. Since there is no longer a drive letter assignedto this partition the drive no longer appears, but I would prefer to simply get rid of it.Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks You,EB.
Hello,Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue. Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:. What happens when you try to delete the partition, do get any error message/error code?. Do you want the files & folders present in the Western Digital WD Unlocker partition? You will be able to delete the partition completely by first formatting the drive and then deleting the same from theDisk management. Formatting will wipe the files & folders contained in the drive clean without leaving any of the data behind. First I would like to thank you for the reply to my post. Unfortunately, when using Disk Management all the options to perform any function are grayed out and the only options available are:Change Drive Letter and Paths.PropertiesHelpNothing else.
I am not able to Delete the Partition, nor am I able to perform a Format. I can't seem to get rid of the Partition. As I mentioned, the only way I was able to stop the Partition from displaying in Explorer as a CD drive letter was to removethe drive letter and assign nothing to the drive. At least now the drive does not appear, but I know it is there and can't do anything about it.And I nearly forgot to answer you other question regarding data. There is no data on the drive so therefore nothing would be lost.Any other thoughts? I don't have any tools to take me down to the Hex or Binary level and make and low level changes. The only tools I have are the default Windows 10 tools primarily Disk Management.Thoughts?
